PowerPoint Is Evil (Not!)
Here. I've seen this kind of argument before, blaming presentation software (or PowerPoint specifically) for making people stupid. If PPT didn't allow you to make intelligent presentations, then I'd be all for panning it, but that's not true. PowerPoint can be used for good or for evil, but it's only a tool; it's the presenter that decides the use to which the tool is put.

As my mother often remarks: I'd like PowerPoint better if I was the only one allowed to use it.

Funny. I used to feel the exact same way about C++ (now I don't even want to use it : ).

The user interface designers job is not only to make the job simple, but also to put in affordances for making better presentations. The fault does not lie entirely with the user, the application designer is also at fault. It is like putting unfriendy road barriers and blaming the driver for not driving carefully.
