C# Programmers Out-Earn VB.NET Programmers by 26%

Visual Studio Magazine posts the results of their latest salary survey. Average Visual Studio programmer salary is $76K, up 12% from last year. Unfortunately, layoffs and such like are still the order of the day.

Demand is greater than supply -- in the next couple of years this gap will most certainly narrow (although I hope not!) Same phenomenon happened when Java was the industry poster child. Let's milk it while it lasts!

I don't understand the salary gap. The level you need to be at to use C# is no different than VB.NET. My only guess is that all of the C++ developers chose C# over VB.NET and it's been my experience that your typical C++ developer is more competent than a VB6 developer. Those Visual Studio magazine salary surveys are so whack!
